IEEE Utility Big Data Workshop

Big Data initiatives in the US and throughout the world have provided a unique window of opportunity for the electric power industry. Following a series of activities on big data for power and energy systems, the IEEE is pleased to announce the first IEEE Utility Big Data Workshop, organized by Le Xie, TAMU and Jeff Katz, IBM.

This one-day workshop will be held on Monday, September 18, 2017, in San Antonio, Texas will be co-located with the Intelligent System Applications to Power Systems (ISAP) conference.

Registration for the IEEE Utility Big Data Workshop is free for full conference registrants of the ISAP conference. Without full conference registration to the ISAP conference, the cost for attending this full day session is $250 USD and will include :
  • The Sunday Joint Reception of 2017 ISAP and IEEE Utility Big Data Workshop
  • Breakfast on Monday
  • Lunch on Monday
  • 2 Breaks on Monday

An exciting technical program will highlight opportunities and challenges of collecting, processing, and providing value out of big data power system applications. A mix of leading researchers and practitioners will offer unique insights into some of the most exciting problems in big data for the power industry.

Specific areas of focus will include renewable energy operational data analytics, big data warehouses, and smart consumer analytics.

The event is being co-hosted by the IEEE Smart Grid in partnership with the IEEE Power & Energy Society, IEEE Communications Society, IEEE Computer Society, IEEE Signal Processing Society, and the IEEE Big Data Initiative. For more information on IEEE Smart Grid, please visit smartgrid.ieee.org.
